In defense of the judges…

Doogle ~ I'd already started before it was announced we'd only jugde a few each. Sorry to those I didn't
get round to reviewing.

Finally, I’d like to say, I’m really blown away by the quality of these songs. It has really opened
my eyes to the level of talent out there. I'm not going to give up on my songwriting, but I can
see I’ve got a long way to go.

Jim Hoye ~ As I said before, my bias is towards lyrical content and my comments may appear blunter than
those of others, (but they are meant to be taken constructively, nonetheless). I hope these
comments won’t offend anyone, They’re meant only to point out strengths and weaknesses.

As I’ve come to expect from the members of this Forum, the overall musicianship is high. The
differences in scoring were based on the strengths and weaknesses of the entries as SONGS.

I particularly noted that none of these entries included intros or closings that were excessively
long and only one had an extended musical bridge. Moreover, ALL the vocals were pretty much
out front so it seems we are all learning some of the more important lessons in song
presentation.
and all deserve recognition and praise for that.

Peace,

JRH

Jimmyz ~ I listened to all the songs all the way through and feel there is a lot of talent on this board.
Great job everybody.

Iggy ~ THAT WAS HARD!

Tim Walton ~ Geeze. This was hard. Here we go.

Nancy G. ~ Am I the only women here? lol

Songwriting to me is poetry put into sound. Songs are born in the heart first and
then displayed in music. Finding the sounds of your heart in your song is what
I am in quest of. I want a song to turn my heart on and touch me. I also want a song to make
me want to move.

As requested by some of my friend here, I am posting the reviews to the other songs. There is
quite a difference. Remember this is only what I
feel from my heart. I am an alternative folk artist so I will probably have a different taste..lol

Todd ~ Sorry folks... Just worked a 16 hr day and had a couple brews, so my reviews may not be as
sharp as they could be. Geoff gave me some hard choices, as most of the songs were the type
of performences I normally enjoy hearing (acoustic singer/songwriter deals), but here it goes:

Melina/Christina ~ Oh, boy! This was very difficult to judge. Just mamanged to do the assigned batch, i.e. songs
10-15, but would like to do the rest later, whether officially or not, because it's also great fun
and enlightening.

This was a great batch of songs to judge, hard to really rank them as they are all pretty good.

David Tallent ~ Please don't shoot the messenger...
