Excellent, EXCELLENT melody. The second verse is my favorite - excellent rhymes, excellent phrases, and the way it is sung makes it more of an impact on the listener. Great solo - possibly different chords for the solo section, to add a bit of change to the middle of the song. I think this song should win.

It's extremely hard to put a poem to music, and I commend you for even trying it, because I very often try and stay away from doing so! The vocals had very nice moments. Good sequencing of all the parts.

Wonderful piano work. I'd like to hear it sung by a male voice, but that's just personal preference. Excellent key change, the change itself lasted over about two measures...nice.

Being a bass player, the intro rules. haha! The vocals seem to me to clash with the song. The hook/chorus is really good though. Maybe just have one low voice do the verses.

Killer tone from that PRS, man. Very nice chord progression, I'd try and develop it a little more. I can hear a rhythm section in my head, but it stands alone with the guitars. Vocals were a little buried, I caught most of the words, but not quite enough to fully get the lyrical image, I guess you could say.

The 12-string is really appropriate for the style, I don't know about the double vocals though. The vocals are very good, however. The melody could be developed even more - it stays in one area a lot of the time.

I really like the beat...reminiscent of the Moody Blues. Nice solo, really fits the song. The lyrics (specifically the meter and phrase length) and the melody remind of Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young. This is definitely a driving song! Word up to the Boston songwriters, I'll be back up there soon!

A note on the song files - this one is a garbled in two places, but not as bad as the other song. I use soundclick too - are you running a lot of programs while uploading? That may make it garbled. Just a thought, has no bearing on the judging.

Sounds very nice. Maybe instead of going up to the root at the end of the lines all the time, try staying in the general area of the verse (for example: "I don't know how long that may be" - sing "be" on the same note as "may"). Also, be aware of your pronunciation, make sure you deliver consonants so that no word is lost.

Very good chord progression, and excellent production. Make sure you pronounce your consonants. Cool tempo change from half to double time. I like the organ solo, but the rhythm section should be more rockin' at that part, in my opinion. Just a simple, lightly overdriven guitar would help that. Also, maybe go back into the chorus after the solo. But anyway, good work! Excellent, this will definitely be near the top.

Your voice, to me, is like a mix of Jerry Garcia and Clint Black. That's a good thing. Excellent background harmonies with the maj7 chords. The verse and chorus flow so well, yet they each have their own distinct sound. Well done!

Very pure voice, I like it, it really helps to bring out the words. And I've always loved swing. I really like the chorus, it's quite catchy. I like the melody on the word "you" at the end of the choruses. And the trumpet is nice! The overlapping vocals at the end are very nice. Apart from my thoughts about the actual writing of the song: a full horn arrangement for the song would be pretty cool.

The mp3 is a little strange...I suggest uploading it again. It is good enough to hear the song and critique it, though. I think the melody stays in the same place a lot and could be more open - the verse and chorus theme are very similar. The performance, although it's not the main area of analysis in this contest, is great.
