Troubles
by Alicia Keys
Melina
Your talent blows me away. You have the depth most of us pretenders only dream about. What a great gift your voice is.
I am unfamiliar with he original rendition, so I won't compare yours to it, but your production and performance were first rate. My only constructive criticism was that "bass, spoken word" voice in the background, which was too far forward for my taste, and detracted a bit from the impact you were creating, especially when the voices got "busy". Overall though a simply impressive effort. I wish I was YOU!
OK. I really only wish I had your voice.

In My Room
by Brian Wilson
Nancy
This is my favorite Beaach Boy song of all time, I do believe. I play it too from time to time. My guess is that your room, and your 12 string, have provided you some solace in recent times. It shows in the passion and soul of your performance. Thanks for the window into your world.

Lullaby
by Tom Waits
Markus
Very Cool rendition, dude! I know Tom Waits but I'm not sure I knew this song. The opening vocal didn't grab me, but as the song progressed you drew me in. A very soulful and moving performance.
I love the simplicity of the arrangement. Now I want to hear tom waits do it to see if his version is as good as yours!

04-James
I Can't Get Next to You
by The Temptations
James
Great production work on the guitar, keyboard, and percussion. I was toe tapping within a measure or 2. I loved the solo guitar in the middle. It rocks! The arrangement is almost as good as the motown original. Regretably, it isn't possible to rival those motown vocals on the original, though your vocals served quite nicely for your arrangement. I love your rock and roll, even when it's laid on top of a motown classic.

Dreamer
by Ozzy Osbourne

What is it about performers? They are vulnerable; an open book. They sing from the heart. Dude, you've got it, you've always had it, and you'll always have it. Though not an Ozzie fan, I loved this song, and your rendition.
As usual, your production quality was near radio ready. Your piece is easy on the ears. Awesome.

Buona Sera
by Louis Prima
Pig man
If I can't have Melina's voice, I want yours. When I hear it, I see Clint Eastwood. Just the right amount of tonal control and rasp. Very nice. You did a song that I'm not familiar with, but no matter; you made it your own. I enjoyed it very much.

07-Kris S
Wonderwall
by Oasis

Kris
OK. We're not ranking 'em, but if we did, this effort gets high mark from me. Fabulous production, almost radio ready. Vocals are a near copy of the original. It doesn't hurt that I like this tune, but you presented the package in such a compelling manner that this entry, to my ear, surpassed the field.
09-Nigel
Happier Than The Morning Sun
by Stevie Wonder
Nigel
Beautiful song; beautiful rendition. Smooth and harmonic guitar work. You have a great voice. I liked the production.

Every Rose Has Its Thorn
by Poison
Emily
I really loved your arrangement. The accordian (keyboard?) was a very cool idea. I thought of a European sidewalk cafe listening to your tune. I'm unfamiliar with the original song, and your production hiss covers up the finer tonal images, but all in all a very satisfying performance
11-David T
Day Tripper
by John Lenno & Paul McCartney
David
Dude! You ROCK! What else can I say? The percussion especially blew me away. It was like you had Ringo on the ol' drum kit. And the instrumentation in the middle (where you play a "B" chord for, like, 4 measures as the song hits the crescendo) was AWESOME! Just like DA Beatles!
But David, David, David: like the rest I have to say LOSE THE KEYBOARD. I mean really... Don't you think that hummer's just screaming out for a little screaming Strat work? I'd love to hear a re-do sans keyboard, with a screaming stratocaster overlay for the lead vocal.
12-Dave C
Autumn Leaves
by Joseph Kosma & Jacques Prévert
Dave
"Autumn Leaves" is one of my top 100 fav songs of all time. It's been done by so many great performers, from Roger Williams to Nat King Cole to Tony Bennett.
Your rendition was a mood setter, and calming, though I'd like to see that melody "flow" a little more. Perhaps less worry about hitting every note, and feeling the vibe and rhythm of the song a little mo' betta.
Good job!
13-Hoaby
Just A Little
by The Beau Brummels
Hoaby
OK, OK, OK. I know I said one of the songs above was the best in show, but I lied. Actually, when I wrote that, I hadn't heard yours yet. Now understand, I'm biased by your subject matter (we played this little ditty in our rock band, back in the 1960s). And your production, while superior, is not as clear and lacks the "punch" of Kris' "Wonderwall" performance. But I loved your rhythm, vocals, guitar, the overall balance of the instruments and voices, and the faithful reproduction as compared to the Beau Brummels version. Great Job!
14-Todd
Joker
by Steve Miller
Todd I liked this song the 1st time I heard. Then I heard it again, and I REALLY liked it. Great originality. I was just listening to it a 3rd or 4th time, and it just zones me out. I love when music does that to me. Music, take me away. The lead guitar is very cool. Great job. Tim
15-Meikow
You Won't See Me
by The Beatles
Meikow Very cool intro. Great keyboard. I like the upbeat tempo of your interpretation. Very good vibe. Great job.
16-Hazelglow
Dreams of Fast Cars
by an amalgam of Tracy Chapman & Gabrielle
Haze What a cool and original idea. I know "Fast Car" but not "Dreams". No matter, the intertwine of the 2 tunes is very interesting and seamless. And I love that Aussie accent. Beautiful, clear, perfectly pitched vocal. Where'd you get the notion for "2 songs for the price of 1" anyway. Loved it!
