| Christina | Iggy, this is a really fine performance. You know what? This I feel is your best style of music. I am not familiar with the original of this song, I would have never believed Ozzie Osbourne could do something as nice and soft as this. I guess I've been fooled again. Or is it you perhaps who made this song so nice now? |
| Kneena | Very Nice! I have never heard this song before but from the sounds of it I know you did it justice! It sounds wonderful! I'm kinda curious to hear what the original song sounds like. I think you did a great job on this song with the music and voice. |
| Solpig | ahhh...ozzy...so misunderstood.Most of his
songs have always been lyrical gems though he is usually discarded on
the "Metal-satan-burn-his-records-at-church" pile.He has always
been anti-war,pro-people...just mired under the shadow of the sinister. I haven't heard the original of this one,but you seemed to capture most of his sounds and tracking technique really well. You play quite well, and the vocals were good.In fact...almost too good.Ozzy's a lot more croaky than you. he hasn't had a real voice since the early 80's,and relies heavily on double tracking and d-tuning sped up(I have first hand proof).I don't think you need to double your voice,it sounds like it's good enough to stand alone. Excellent selection, great rendition, great musicianship.....mr.pig |
| Nigel | It could be that I'm on a John Lennon site,
but do I hear the Beatles influence? In an Ozzy Osbourne song?!?!
Nice job on this, Iggy. I'm not familiar with this song, but I am familiar with Ozzy so I can imagine what the original sounds like. I like your interpretation. It's probably a result of the low fi file, but I had trouble hearing all the instruments in the mix. It seemed that everything was competing for front and center. Nice job. |
| Kris S | Iggy: First song I ever sang in a band was "Snow Blind" by Sabbath so I have a warm spot in my heart for Ozzy. I've never heard this song but you sure made me want to. Piano playing was great! Was that an old upright? Plus on your vocal did you double track it with a very slight delay? I like your performance very much! Congrats. |
| David T | Wonderful song! I am a die-hard Ozzy fan, and
Iggy's keyboard skills, as usual, are fantastic. Great vocals too, this
song was a good choice for his range. I really can't think of much to
criticize, except for the guitar solo...hey Iggy, was Zakk Wylde busy
or something?
Ozzy has said that Imagine is one of his favorite songs, and Dreamer is his tribute to John and his song...I think John would be pleased with the tribute and Iggy's rendition. Two thumbs up! |
| Tim W | Iggy What is it about performers? They are vulnerable; an open book. They sing from the heart. Dude, you've got it, you've always had it, and you'll always have it. Though not an Ozzie fan, I loved this song, and your rendition. As usual, your production quality was near radio ready. Your piece is easy on the ears. Awesome. |
| Nancy G | Well I have listened to this song
a couple of times now. I really dig it. I remember going to see Black
Sabbath in 1969 twice, but I don't remember a thing I heard..lol. I have stayed away from Ozzy, I don't know why, but this song is a great song. I am a dreamer too. Your piano work is excellent as well as the vocals..real dreamy the way, I like it..Heartmusic for sure! The general sound of this song reminds me of the Beatles, John Lennon. The harmonies are dreamy too. The song has a very thick sound as well. Great job. |
| Todd | The roots of Iggy revealed! I'm glad someone did an Ozzy tune, and showed its not all about bats and devils and stuff. Iggy's voice works really well on this cover, and the orchestration is good. The piano was a little overpowering at first, but I have a stong feeling it's the old lo-fi blues going on there. I would have stretched out a guitar solo a bit more, but then again I'm a guitar guy. Overall, awsome jobe dude! You rock! |
| James | Good job Ig. Good playing vocals. My only complaint is that it's a little too dead on to the original. I'd like to hear more Iggy and less Ozzy. Otherwise excellent job! |
| Markus | I did not hear the original too
often, but I think your performance comes very close to the original. I would prefer the level of your voice to be higher. Sometimes it is slightly masked by the instrumental tracks. And you don't need to hide your singing, which is really good! |
| Hoaby | I remember first hearing Ozzy on Beaker Street...hosted by Clyde Clifford....on a radio station out of Little Rock Ar. I am very familiar with most all of his stuff. You did right by him as far as I am concerned. Everything about the recording is top notch. You did a great vocal track! I would love to hear some of your new stuff as well....bet it kicks royal A**! |
| Emily (EED) | My original review must have got
lost in cyber/christina-space :) So, I've got a soft spot for Ozzie. My
brother was a huge Ozzy fan when I was little. My parents were never so
happy as when the concert to which my brother had tickets was cancelled
due to a bat-head biting rabies (sp?) scare. But, I digress....I thought
this was great. I was surprised how Lennon-esque it sounded. Ozzie and
the Beatles, who knew? The keyboard is great as are the vocals. The production
is clear and well done. Super. |
| Dave C | Interesting and pleasant vocal rendering of the tune, I liked it a lot. I hear a lot of bands cover Sabbath and The Oz and he is very difficult to emulate. I think I do War Pigs, Paranoid and Crazy Train 52 times a year (i.e., every time we gig) and its nice to hear something different by him. |
| Meikow | I love this song and have played
it several times and every time I do, everyone wants to know who this
is. Very smooth Ig. Nicely produced. A nice Beatle-esque touch to it.
Your voice really compliments this song and vice versa. Love it!!! |
| hazelglow | Cool piano stuff. I like the feel of this arrangement, 'tis better than Ozzy's. Hard to make it all out though, but that's probably 'cos of the mono lo-fi mix. Would've liked the vocals to have cut through more, they were quite swamped and it was quite hard to make out the lyrics and assess the vocal performance, but I think it sounded pretty good. Guitar and piano works really well together there in the middle. |
