Kneena Calming...Peaceful and so Serene. This is a lovely and moving rendition of a beautiful song! Very nice!
Iggy Nice, mellow rendition, not bad at all. I actually know this song (but I don't know why). My only complaint was it seemed a bit slow, especially waiting for you to hit that bass note.

Decent playing, nice choice.

"Autumn Leaves" is one of my top 100 fav songs of all time. It's been done by so many great performers, from Roger Williams to Nat King Cole to Tony Bennett.
Your rendition was a mood setter, and calming, though I'd like to see that melody "flow" a little more. Perhaps less worry about hitting every note, and feeling the vibe and rhythm of the song a little mo' betta.
Good job!
Christina Dave, coincidentally, as I was searching for the lyrics and a sample of the original song, I happened to be told by a friend that the chorus of this song is a standard for all serious jazz guitar students. I think you've done a great job on this.
David T Interesting guitar picking technique. Most notes were picked, then muted. I don't know if this was intentional or not...it can be done by lifting the fret finger slightly after striking the string, or it can be done accidentally by a beginner who doesn't have the chord tightly anchored on the fretboard. I think more forceful and flowing playing would remove this doubt from the listener.
Nancy G This song took me back. It is very retroflective. My mom is 85 and she would play this song on the piano. I loved to hear her fingers play the keys and make falling leaves sounds.
This is a very tasteful selection you have chosen. Your guitar sound is just wonderfully embracing to me. You left me dreaming in an "Autumn Leaves" world...thanks..great job on this song.

Nigel I've always liked this tune. It was my first work piece for jazz piano. On the plus side, you did a nice job bringing out the melody by voicing the chords with the melody on top. I would have liked to hear the melody notes ring out more legato. Quite honestly, overall your performance sounded very uneasy. It sounds to me like you're just getting comfortable with the chords and melody and it hasn't yet become smooth in your hands.

Todd The chording is nice, but I would try going for a fuller sound in the studio, maybe stereo micing or something. There's some kind of slap-back echo that takes away from the performance, as well, but it moves and finishes. Good job!
James I'm a sucker for Chords and Melody. That's how I learned how to play guitar so I can so appreciate what you do. I learned this same song probably 30 years ago. The tremelo kicks. Very Clean. Thanks for the memories!
A beautiful jazz standard that you have chosen. Is that arrangement yours? That is what I really liked about it. It sounds that it was a little too difficult to play for you. I think the
staccato style the whole song through was not really your intention. But don't mind, playing that song again and again will help you to let your guitar "sing" some beautiful legato phrases :)
Kris S Listening to this at home...the face of Cary Grant pops into my mind. Why I can't tell you. OH NOW I KNOW. Because this song reminds me of old Hitchcock flicks. Call me crazy, but it does. I had a friend who played jazz guitar and he jammed this one all the time. An ageless classic and you played it a bit slow, but well. Thanks
Emily (EED) This is my husband's favorite song of all time and he's collected many versions of it. Technically, this was very well done--all the right notes hit, arranged well, executed precisely but it lacked in flow and therefore, to my ears, in emotion. Still, impressive guitar skills.
Meikow Good job Dave, kudos for switching instruments and making it sound so sweet.
Solpig Dave!!!???? where's the distortion box????
I thought I was finally gonna get to hear you sing.I'll bet you can.I fired numerous singers before I tried it myself.Anyone who can write like you has GOT to be able to sing.Oh well....
This is really pretty.Unexpected.Good tone.Got that django Reinhart kinda mono sound.Very out of context with your other work which makes it all the better.
I wanna hear you sing next time or I'm gonna crucify you.
Love,hogs and quiches,,,,,solpig.

Dave, in listening to this song, I am taken back many years. I listen to your chord arrangements, and know that if I ever attempted to play this song, it would take me a long time to work it out. Thanks for bringing back some strong memories, and for doing such touching guitar work!

Hazelglow Gosh I have to be honest; 'cos this showcase is all about performance. If you're proposing that your song cover arrangement contains nothing but a lone guitarist, then you need to make sure it's a really good player being featured and that you also have something interesting/different to offer arrangement/interpretation wise. I don't hear either here, instead it's just a beginner plunking awkwardly through some very standard chords. This does not a cover make. If you've listened to the other efforts by now, you'll have noticed that most people have worked hard at pulling quite a few arrangement and performance elements together to create their cover. I wish there had been more elements to yours, 'cos I would've loved to have found something in there that I could be complimentary about. Sorry!
