Christina Trust Haze to come up with such a strange concoction! LOL! Here I was testing out the sound file and setting up the lyrics page and all. I was confidently writing "by Tracy Chapman" when the first vocals started and here I was trying to make out what exactly I was hearing. I thought I was hallucinating! Haze, this is quite a feat! I don't know the other song you blended in, but I must say it sounds like it belongs there. Or it would if I didn't know Tracy Chapman's song so well (of course, I did doubt myself for a while there, until I actually saw the lyrics and your comments). Great job! Now if only I could find the original of the other song....
Kneena A very unique and fresh approach! I'm familiar with Tracy Chapman. Great strumming! Peaceful sounding. Your harmonies fit nicely!
Nancy G Well, this song covers two things I love...
dreaming and then fast cars...
Preferably a 1931 Flat Black Ford "little deuce coupe"
Yeah!
Haze, it is so nice to hear your vocals in this song.
Your melody is perfectly dreamy. You always turn out something wonderful in these little intra forum contests or
showcases...
I wish we all lived closer so we could sit by a fire and on a chilly starry night and all play music together face to face..heart to heart!
Thanks for sharing this song with us , I loved it!

Iggy Wow, two cover for the price of one Just something you quickly threw togethereeh? Nice switch.

Enjoyed both versions that blended seamlessly into one very good rendition. Great voice, good playing. Overall very nice. You dont talk like me, though, you must be from somewhere else!

David T Great production and playing. Good voice, but with a clunker or two in there, but that could be corrected with another take. I would have liked a nice, slow percussion track in there, possibly wooden block and hi-hat. Overall, a fine performance and interpretation. Enjoyed it!
Todd Very interesting idea lyrically. I like this type of thing; the mallability of words, and what's more important is it really works. The harmonies were very good, guitar sound was solid, but as I've heard some of Haze's other stuff, I could kind of tell this was a rush recording, not quite as polished as I'm used to hearing. Still good, though! Really liked how it winded down, but ditch the "two songs for the price of one" line at the end; That would work with live audience interplay, but when folks got the time to digest a pre recorded number, I think they get the point there's a merger going on. Glad to see ya got a song in on the wire, though. Enjoyed it as usual.
Emily (EED) It's like a lullabye. I'm lulled (in a very good way). Those songs fit seamlessly together--amazing. You must be British....or Irish? I've been wracking my brain to think of who your voice reminds me of--I'm thinking the guy from the Housemartins/Beautiful South..? It's a very soothing smooth sound--perfect for this song. Nice guitar work.
Nigel Happy birthday to me...oh yeah, review....
Liked it Hazelglow. Not familiar with the "Dreams" tune, but seems to fit nicely in medley with "Fast Car". Nice choice for your voice and guitar playing. Nice interplay between the two guitar parts. Vocal harmonies are tasty. Lead vocal reminds me a little of James Iha. Anyone else? Well done.
Solpig Not bad for a "throw together" like you said.good musicianship(sometimes the easiest stuff is the hardest). Is that a little Morrisey I hear?
I've never heard the "dreams" cover, but they worked together just fine.Good Job!
Hoaby I didn't grow up in the last 20 years.....but am more a product of the 60's and 70's. However, I have kept up with the music scene, I never know when I will have to sit in with a band and play Creed, or Fountains of Wayne, or Men At Work, or Tracy Chapman, so I learn them all as best I can. You did a great job on this. I love the way it melts together. Great guitar work and vocals. You kept true to the original while adding "you".
Kris S Haze:

Liked the blending of the two songs. While I'm familiar with Tracy Chapman I have no idea who Gabrielle is. Still the entry was performed well and had me smiling. Thanks for the tune.

Dave C I was not familiar with Dreams and hadnt listened to Fast Car in a long time. The 2 songs flowed together beautifully and I think the lyrics worked OK together. The Dreams part is a bit noncommittal when juxtaposed against a song about life in a single parent alcoholic family and how the child in that family views the car as a means of escape well just a thought. I once saw a male/female comedy act seamlessly fuse a romantic tune sung by the female (Im drawing a complete blank on the song) with Psycho Killer sung by the male.

What a cool and original idea. I know "Fast Car" but not "Dreams". No matter, the intertwine of the 2 tunes is very interesting and seamless. And I love that Aussie accent. Beautiful, clear, perfectly pitched vocal. Where'd you get the notion for "2 songs for the price of 1" anyway. Loved it!
Markus The fusion of the two songs created a new one, cool! I like your singing, specially the harmony parts.
I did not know "dreams" before. Thanks for introducing it.
